Happy 4th! Pray for an Awakening in this Land!

I write you today on behalf of the Protect Marriage Washington Campaign Team to wish you and your family the very best for this year's Independence Day celebration.

John Adams wrote that the Fourth of July "...ought to be celebrated by pomp and parade, with shows, games, sports, guns, bells, bonfires, and illuminations from one end of this continent to the other..."

As you enjoy the weekend activities, please take a moment to pray for our state and nation. We are a country that is spiritually adrift. We are experiencing the pain and suffering that is the natural consequence of electing godless leaders in Olympia and Washington D.C.

Pray for an awakening in this land that we Americans will once again heed the words of our founding fathers who understood that our Constitution was made "only for a moral and religious people" and that it would be "wholly inadequate to the government of any other".

It is for these founding principles that we must all report for duty and fight the good fight again today.

Please consider taking R-71 petitions with you as you attend events around the state as many thousands of our fellow citizens are still anxiously awaiting the opportunity to sign.  R-71 is a great way for Washingtonians to reassert the will of the people and reclaim a moral footing for our state in these troubling times!

May God Bless you as we celebrate the birth of this great nation!

PS. If at all possible, please donate to the campaign today. We need immediate funding to carry on with our "Referendum (71) Sunday" efforts as we continue to send R-71 packets to hundreds of churches statewide.

Mission

The mission of the new PAC is to organize the effort to gather the 120,577 required signatures for Referendum 71 by July 25, 2009 to bring the controversial Senate Bill 5688 before the voters of Washington State in November. SB 5688 is a 110 page document which includes the phrase "marriage shall apply equally to state registered domestic partnerships" 180 times.

SB 5688 was packaged and presented to the legislature as a Domestic Partnerships expansion of benefits. In truth, it will demolish the state's historical understanding and definition of marriage as that of uniting a man and a woman for life as Washington State will immediately become subject to litigation by same-sex partners demanding that the courts overturn the Defense of Marriage Act and impose "same-sex marriage" (as happened recently in California prior to Proposition 8).
