GREAT NEWS FROM THE R-71 TEAM!

Arlington, WA - July 10, 2009 -  By all reports, the R-71 campaign is hitting on all cylinders as we continue to hear of successful signature drives at a variety of events and locations around the state!

Having completed our initial signature tally this week, (thanks to our volunteers who responded so quickly) we have what we believe to be a conservative estimate of 75,000+ signatures! We must push hard in the next two weeks to exceed the required 120,577 valid signatures.

Since many petition drives double their totals in the last two weeks, we believe that we are within striking distance of our goal IF WE CAN KEEP UP THE PACE AND FINISH STRONG!

We will need a big, big push in the churches around the state the next two Sundays to get over the top!

With over 70,000 R-71 petitions now in circulation and R-71 mailing packets still going out like hotcakes this week, we are convinced that this effort can and will succeed!

We are praying for a successful weekend drive by our friends from the Knights of Columbus who are receiving their R-71 Church Packets  today and tomorrow!

My mother and sister-in-law and a friend gathered 80 signatures in just a few hours in front of a Wal-Mart on Wednesday!  We are urging our volunteers to please continue with heroic efforts like these outside of places like Wal-Mart, shopping malls, local post offices, etc. etc.

Please do not let up!  We need a strong drive to the finish line!

We also need help with campaign expenses, which are substantial as we head down the stretch.

We are at our most critical juncture right now as we have mailed hundreds of the R-71 packets this week and we have bills to pay. Your donation now will help us keep this campaign in high gear and in the black!

May God Bless our hundreds of volunteers for their sacrifice of time and money as we work together to preserve marriage and protect children in Washington State!

Mission

The mission of the new PAC is to organize the effort to gather the 120,577 required signatures for Referendum 71 by July 25, 2009 to bring the controversial Senate Bill 5688 before the voters of Washington State in November. SB 5688 is a 110 page document which includes the phrase "marriage shall apply equally to state registered domestic partnerships" 180 times.

SB 5688 was packaged and presented to the legislature as a Domestic Partnerships expansion of benefits. In truth, it will demolish the state's historical understanding and definition of marriage as that of uniting a man and a woman for life as Washington State will immediately become subject to litigation by same-sex partners demanding that the courts overturn the Defense of Marriage Act and impose "same-sex marriage" (as happened recently in California prior to Proposition 8).
